Pastor Appreciation Dinner 2018

Local Adventist Church Presents the Nyack Center Director Receives the 2018 Rockland Community Leadership Award.

It is Thursday, October 18, 2018 as the elected officials, civil rights leaders, faith based communities and the local businesses in the area park their cars within the locales of the historic waterfront of the Nyack Seaport Restaurant on the Hudson River. This unique gaze of a moment induces curiosity in the neighborhood and other people that are concluding their daily work by cultivating quiet moments while treading the public park grounds within the beautiful breeze of the beautiful panorama of the Nyack Seaport on the Hudson.

But to Berea-Nyack Seventh-day Adventist Church, this is an annual experience as they always host a community event to appreciate their pastor and any identified community leader making a difference in Rockland County and New York State at large. On this occasion, the community gathered to honor Pastor Andrew Philbert of Berea-Nyack SDA Church and Nicole Hines, Assistant Director of the Nyack Center. Graced with the presence of community leaders and politicians; including the Mayor of Nyack, the Chair of the Rockland Legislature and the Clergy Coalition, the honorees received momentous accolades that inspired every attendee to jump start their passion for community service.

In recognition of their tireless service to the community, both honorees were presented with citations and proclamations from local and state governments. It was a magnificent evening decorated with songs of praise with the children’s choir and the participation of both young and old people from other community centers and houses of  worship from within Rockland.

On Saturday October 20, this Annual Community Award Program culminated into an official presentation of a donation to the work of Nyack Center by Berea-Nyack SDA Church. Nicole Hines inspired the whole church about with the story of her tireless commitment to work with everybody in serving the community, and Pastor Philbert expressed his humbled appreciation of what the church and Rockland Community has done to recognize his work.
